Artist’s Background

Brad Sneed is a fourth-generation Kansan who grew up in rural Newton. He doesn’t remember a time when he didn’t draw and paint, but he also spent time playing sports, riding horses, hunting, and fishing. He attended Kansas University where he earned a B.F.A., majoring in Visual Communication/Illustration. After graduation he embarked on a freelance illustration career, focused on illustrating and writing children’s picture books. Artistic inspiration comes from the natural world – the land, sky, plants, water, as well as human and nonhuman animals that inhabit those spaces.
